The success of our government is dependent on the roles of active citizens who are engaged in the political process. The Pachyderm clubs, patterned after local service organizations, typically have weekly luncheon meetings bringing in local, state, and national political leaders discussing today’s issues. Pachyderm Clubs take no positions on issues and will not support any candidates in contested primaries. Currently there are 50 Pachyderm clubs active in 13 states. The Marshall County Pachyderm Club is an Allied Organization of the Marshall County Republican Central Committee. Our club will be successful with your support. Peter Rogers is president of the Marshall County Pachyderm Club.

Marshalltown Republican Caucus January 3

The Marshalltown city Wards, TimberCreek Township, and LeGrand Township Republican Caucuses will take place at 7 p.m., January 3, 2012 in the gymnasium (Roundhouse) of the Marshalltown Senior High School.

Registration will begin at 6 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early. The entrance will be the East doors of the Roundhouse, and volunteers and banners will direct attendees to their proper registration.

Registered Republicans will be directed by Ward or Township to their correct registration table. After registration, attendees will be directed by volunteers to their seats by Ward or Township.

If the participant is not yet registered as a Republican, or needs to register due to coming of age, or due to a move, there will be tables and assistance provided.

Handicap accommodations will be provided with chair seating, and an elevator will be staffed to allow access to the Precinct or Township breakouts. Bleacher seating will be used for non-handicapped persons, and stairway access to the breakout sessions will be utilized.

Each precinct will have it's own location with leaders to begin the process to help select the next Republican presidential candidate. The 2008 Presidential Caucus was attended by over 1500 in Marshalltown, and preparations are being made to efficiently accommodate well over 2000 people for this year's Caucus.

Dozens of volunteers have stepped forward in carefully organizing this anticipated event. There will be many students involved in giving direction, presenting the Flag, and singing of the Nation Anthem.

The Marshall County Republican Chairperson, Peter Rogers, announces that the much anticipated Republican precinct caucuses will be held throughout Marshall County on January 3 at 7:00 pm.
The locations for the caucus are:

Marshalltown Wards 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, 2-2, 3-1, 3-2, 4-1, and 4-2, along with LeGrand and Timbercreek Townships will all meet in the Marshalltown High School Roundhouse (Gymnasium) 1601 S 3rd Ave., Marshalltown at 7 p.m.
Bangor, Liberty and Minerva Townships will meet at Clemons Lutheran School, 302 Bezin St, Clemons, IA
State Center Township will meet at the West Marshall High School Library, 601 3rd St. NW, State Center, IA.
Eden and Logan Townships will meet at the Melbourne Community Center, 613 Main St., Melbourne, IA
Marietta and Washington Townships will meet at Consumer’s Energy, 2074 242nd St (Hwys 330 and 30 intersection), Marshalltown, IA
Liscomb Township will meet at Liscomb Community Center, 114 Main St., Liscomb, IA

These precinct caucuses will take a written straw poll of the attendees for the Republican candidates of that person’s choice. This straw poll will be taken after local candidate introductions, a brief explanation of the process, then attendees will proceed to a location in the building by Precinct or Township for additional business.
The caucuses will also ask for platform planks to be submitted for consideration in the Marshall County Platform, which will be adopted at the Republican County Convention. Also, delegates and alternate delegates to the Republican County Convention will be elected.
Election of members of the Marshall County Republican Central Committee will also occur.

Next week we will join Family Research Council Action (FRC Action) and the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) for the Value Voters Bus Tour across Iowa.

Straw Poll Volunteers Needed

Dear County Leaders,

The 2011 Iowa Straw Poll is upon us, and we are extremely excited about this year’s August 13^th event in Ames. The Straw Poll showcases the state of Iowa and the strength of the Republican Party, and in order to ensure success, we need the help of great volunteers like yourself!

Like 2007, volunteers will receive free admission to the Straw Poll. Refreshments will be available for our volunteers also. There will be two shifts to volunteer (8am-1pm or 12pm-5pm) so that you will have an opportunity to enjoy the day’s events for at least half the day.
